Disconnect/connect battery ground line - AR54.10-P-0003RK

DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
DANGER Risk of explosion  from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury  through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses.
Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

  Connect/disconnect     
1 Switch off all electrical consumers, switch off ignition NOTES
All electrical consumers must be switched off. Otherwise they may be damaged when the ground line (3) is connected/disconnected.
 
2 Open trunk lid    
3 Unhook trunk partition (1)    
4 Remove luggage compartment paneling    
5 Remove spare tire well panel    
6 Remove nut (2) and detach ground line (3) from on-board electrical system battery (G1) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, battery cable to on-board electrical system battery negative terminal/positive terminal *BA54.10-P-1006-01F 
7 Using a diode test lamp, check the electrical system for voltage between the positive line of the on-board electrical system battery (G1) and the disconnected ground line (3) Vehicles with CODE B03 (ECO start/stop function)
NOTES
Cover up positive line.
There is a risk of short circuit otherwise.
 
    The electrical system is to be repaired, if necessary, once the work to be carried out has been completed.
If the diode test lamp lights up, the on-board electrical system is still active because of a defect in the electrical system.

Disconnect ground line from additional battery for ECO start/stop function (G1/13). Refer to: Remove/install additional battery

8 Connect in reverse order    
9 Reset clock Vehicles with CODE 526 (COMAND (without navigation))
