Remove/install steering column module - AR54.25-P-2802RK

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Perform initial startup of steering column tube module (1)    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
2 Remove steering wheel   AR46.10-P-0100EW
3 Detach cover (3) from steering column tube module (1) IMPORTANT To do so, press the frame of the cover (3) off the steering column tube module (1).

4 Detach steering column tube module (1) from steering column tube (5) NOTES Do not operate red safety catches in steering column tube module control unit (N80). The steering wheel clock spring contact (A45)
will otherwise be damaged irreparably.
IMPORTANT The steering column tube module (1) contains the steering wheel clock spring contact (A45), steering wheel angle sensor (N49), steering column tube module control unit (N80) and combination switch (S4). It is one component and can only be removed or replaced complete.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT When the steering column tube module (1) is in the correct installation position, the assembly indicator (2) is retracted. When installing a new steering column tube module (1), the transportation lock (4) must be broken off following installation.
 
5 Disconnect electrical connector (6) from steering column tube module control unit (N80) IMPORTANT The locking clip of the electrical connector (6) is destroyed and has to be replaced.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Secure the electrical connector (6) using a new locking clip.

6 Install in the reverse order    
7 Initialize DISTRONIC electric controller unit (A89) MODEL 231 with CODE 233 (DISTRONIC PLUS) Only when replacing steering column tube module (1).  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
