Remove/install center console - AR68.20-P-2000LF

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Disconnect ground line at the on-board electrical system battery   AR54.10-P-0003LF
2 Open stowage compartment (2) and rubber insert    
3 Unscrew bolts (5)    
4 Remove cover (3) on center console (1)   AR68.20-P-2350LF 
5 Remove cup holder in rear Model 222.1/9
with code 224 (Rear individual seat design)
AR68.00-P-5204LF 
6 Remove rear entertainment unit (A26/18) Model 222.0/1/9
with code P46 (Rear-Seat Entertainment Package)
except code 224 (Rear individual seat design)
AR82.60-P-7697LF
7 Unscrew bolts and remove rear entertainment control unit bracket (A26/18) from vehicle Model 222.0/1/9
with code P46 (Rear-Seat Entertainment Package)
except code 224 (Rear individual seat design)
 
8 Disconnect electrical connectors (15, 16, 17)    
9 Open cover on center console armrest (1)    
10 Remove cover (9) with removal fixture (10) upward and disconnect electrical connectors (11, 12) Model 217.3, 222.0/1/9
IMPORTANT The number of electrical connections is depending on equipment installed.
SPECIAL TOOL Removal assembly

11 Push cover (8) toward front, remove and disconnect electrical connectors (13, 14) Model 222.0/1/9
with code 582 (Rear air conditioner)
 
12 Remove power soft top switch Model 217.4 AR77.39-P-1000LCA
13 Remove screw/bolts (6)    
14 Remove bolts (30) Model 217
Model 222.1/9
with code 224 (Rear individual seat design)
 
15 Open stowage compartment (18) on instrument panel    
16 Unscrew bolts (19) and remove stowage compartment (18)    
17 Disconnect electrical connector in stowage compartment (18)    
18 Unscrew bolts, remove rear bracket on center console (1) and disconnect electrical connector    
19 Lift center console (1) IMPORTANT Press cross strut down on center console (1) below stowage compartment in instrument panel. The cover (4) falls off the COMAND control unit (A40/3) when the center console (1) is lifted.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Clip cover (4) into COMAND control unit (A40/3).
IMPORTANT Helper required.
 
20 Disconnect electrical connector (7) Model 217
Model 222.0/1/9
except code 582 (Rear air conditioner)
 
21 Disconnect electrical connector on touchpad on center console (1) Model 217, 222.0/1
with code 318 (Touchpad with rotary push-button)
Model 222.9
with code 448 (Touchpad)
 
22 Disconnect lower electrical connectors from center console (1) IMPORTANT There are 3 electrical connectors in total.  
23 Remove center console (1) toward rear from vehicle    
24 Install in the reverse order
