Model 447

Use star stamp at start and end of vehicle identification number (VIN).

Model 448

Use five-pointed star stamp at start and end of VIN.

Commercially available devices/tools 

Five-pointed star stamp (character height 6 mm)

1. Stamp in with star stamp or five-pointed star stamp at left end stop.

   Ensure that tool is aligned correctly.

   The tip of the star stamp or five-pointed star stamp should point upward in the typeface.

2. Position letter stamp of first letter of VIN at the first graduation line with the left edge and stamp in.

   

   Model 447

   VIN starts with "W".

   

   Model 448

   VIN starts with "L".

3. Stamp in remaining VIN.

   With each following letter stamp or number stamp, move one graduation line forward on scale until the complete VIN and the star are stamped in either with the star stamp or with the five-pointed star stamp.

   The entire width of the VIN is 106 mm (±4 mm).
