The next steps are shown on model 447 with code T19 (left sliding door) on the left side of the vehicle and must be carried out in the same way on the right side of the vehicle in the event of damage.
- Expose spot welds on the entrance step module (1) (areas A, B, and C).
- Cut out spot welds on the entrance step module (1) (areas A, B, and C).
- Heat entrance step module (1) and front floor (2) in the cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove damaged entrance step module (1).
To do this, lift heated area on the front floor (2) until the damaged entrance step module (1) can be removed.
- Scribe separation lines on the sliding door entrance (3) (areas D1
, D2
, D3
, D4
, and D5
).
Observe dimensions (a, b, c).
- Cut sliding door entrance (3) at the separating points (areas D1 , D2 , D3 , D4 and D5 ).
- Remove damaged sliding door entrance section (3).
- Expose spot welds on the remaining pieces (4) (area E).
- Cut out spot welds on the remaining pieces (4) (areas E).
- Remove remaining sections (4).
- Expose spot welds on the remaining piece (5) (areas F and H).
- Cut out spot welds on the remaining piece (5) (areas F and H).
Cut out spot welds (arrows) through two panel thicknesses.
- Expose MAG spot welds on the remaining piece (5) (area G).
- Cut out MAG spot welds on the remaining piece (5) (area G).
- Cut shielding gas welds on the remaining piece (5) (areas I and J).
- Remove remaining piece (5).
- Expose spot welds on the remaining piece (6) (areas K, L1 , L2 , and M).
- Cut out spot welds on the remaining piece (6) (areas K, L1
, L2
, and M).
Cut out spot weld (arrow) through two panel thicknesses (area L1 ).
- Expose spot welds on the front floor (2) (areas L3 and N).
- Cut out spot welds on the front floor (2) (areas L3
and N).
Cut out spot welds (arrows) through two panel thicknesses (areas L3 and N).
- Heat up front floor (2) in the cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Lift front floor (2) in the released areas until the remaining piece (6) can be removed.
- Expose MAG spot welds on the remaining piece (6) (area O).
- Cut out MAG spot welds on the remaining piece (6) (area O).
- Cut shielding gas weld at the reinforcement (7) (area P).
- Expose spot welds on reinforcement (7) (areas Q1 and Q2 ).
- Cut out spot welds on reinforcement (7) (areas Q1
and Q2
).
Cut out spot welds (arrows) through two panel thicknesses.
- Expose spot welds on remaining piece (6) (areas R and S).
- Cut out spot welds on remaining piece (6) (areas R and S).
Cut out spot welds (arrows) through two panel thicknesses.
- Remove remaining piece (6) with reinforcement (7).
- Grind down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.
- Grind down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.
- Grind down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove shavings and milling chips.
- Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges.
