The following operation steps are shown on the right side of the vehicle and must be similarly performed on the left side of the vehicle in the case of damage.
- Mark separating point on the top front longitudinal member (1) (area A).
- Cut separating point on the top front longitudinal member (1) (area A).
Do not cut too deeply.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
- Expose spot welds on the top front longitudinal member (1) (areas B and C).
- Cut out spot welds on the top front longitudinal member (1) (areas B and C).
- Remove damaged upper front longitudinal member (1).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove shavings and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
