NOTES Do not touch bonding surfaces with bare fingers and bonding surfaces must be free of dust, oil, grease, wax, dirt residues and other adhesive components. Otherwise the strength of the adhesive connection can be impaired and proper adhesion of the adhesive material is not ensured.

NOTES Only use materials from approved repair kit and observe the processing instructions without fail.

NOTES Object and room temperatures must be at least 15°C and may not exceed 35°C.

  1. Cut back existing adhesive bead (1) on the panoramic roof (3) to a residual height of approx. 1 to 2 mm and detach residual pieces of the adhesive bead (1) that have not been fully cut off.

    When reinstalling previously removed panoramic roof (3).

    IMPORTANT The present adhesive bead (1) should not be higher than max. 2 mm.

  2. Remove old spacers (2).

    When reinstalling previously removed panoramic roof (3).

  3. Fully remove adhesive bead (1) present on mounting locations of spacers (2).

    When reinstalling previously removed panoramic roof (3).

  4. Remove cutting residues at panoramic roof (3).

    When reinstalling previously removed panoramic roof (3).

  5. Clean bonding surfaces.
  6. Repair damage to surface coating at panoramic roof (3).

    When reinstalling previously removed panoramic roof (3).

    NOTES Ensure that adhesive material is later applied only to cutback adhesive beads, to the original factory primer or a Mercedes-Benz Group AG-approved repair primer.

    Otherwise the strength of the adhesive connection can be impaired and proper adhesion of the adhesive material is not ensured.

    IMPORTANT Use only approved primer fillers and primer sticks:

    1. When reinstalling previously removed panoramic roof (3).

      If there is no residual adhesive material in the bonding area onto connecting flanges that are no longer accessible after installing side roof paneling.

    2. When replacing panoramic roof (3)

      Apply primer on entire bonding surface on panoramic roof (3).

  7. Attach new spacers (2), as shown, on inside edge of contact surface of panoramic roof (3).

    IMPORTANT Note positions of new spacers (2).

  8. Set down prepared panoramic roof (3) with inside facing downwards on suitable assembly stands.

    NOTES Carefully handle prepared panoramic roof (3) and lay down.

    Bonding surface can otherwise be contaminated or spacers (2) can fall off or slip.

    IMPORTANT Helper required.

  9. Install one cup suction tool in each corner area of panoramic roof (3).
