With the manual pop-up roof, the roof is unlocked and the pop-up roof is set up manually. Set-up is supported and secured by gas-filled struts. This prevents the pop-up roof from being closed unintentionally (e.g. heavy gusts of wind). To unlock, press on marked surface on inside of boot and unlock gas-filled strut. Then the roof shell can be lowered at the same time.

The electric pop-up roof is operated by the central operating unit (COU) (N10/16) The central operating unit (COU) communicates via the body manufacturer CAN (MPM CAN) with the pop-up roof control unit (N70/4). The pop-up roof control unit actuates the left pop-up roof control unit (M12/7) and right pop-up roof motor (M12/8). An intermediate stop is integrated at the position when the roof is lowered one third. After the intermediate stop, it is necessary to actuates the central operating unit button (COU) again. Hall sensors for locating finding are installed on the right and left pop-up roof motors.

When the pop-up roof is completely open, a feedback is sent to the pop-up roof control unit via 2 switches, and via the body manufacturer CAN and the parameterizable special module control unit (PSM) (N26/16) the anti-theft alarm system control unit (ATA) (N26/6) receives the request switch off the anti-theft alarm system ATA 2 (Interior protection). This signal is also present when the circuit 15 is switched off.

When the pop-up roof is closed and the ignition is on, a warning tone sounds until the ignition is switched off or the electric pop-up roof is closed and locked or the 230 V-connection is disconnected.

IMPORTANT The pop-up roof switches off when the back-up battery (G1/12) voltage is too low.

IMPORTANT Opening and closing the pop-up roof creates a slight vacuum in the vehicle.

IMPORTANT In the closed state the maximum roof shell load is max. 50 kg.

IMPORTANT On both models with pop-up roof, the permissible maximum speed is limited to max. 200 km/h.
