REMOVING Remove     
1.1 Disconnect ground line of on-board electrical system battery (G1). Model 447.6/7 with code ED4 (AGM battery 12 V 92 Ah) Model 447.6/7 with code EE8 (Battery 12V 100 Ah) Model 447.8  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR54.10-S-0003E 
1.2 Remove on-board electrical system battery (G1). Model 447.6/7 except code ED4 (AGM battery 12 V 92 Ah) except code EE8 (Battery 12V 100 Ah)  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   IMPORTANT The on-board electrical system battery (G1) installed as standard must be replaced by a higher-performance one, and it can be disposed of after removal. AR54.10-S-0005E 
2 Remove cover (2) from center console (3). NOTES Carefully unclip cover (2).
Otherwise the center console (3) could be damaged.
 
    SPECIAL TOOL Long wedge Fig 1
INSTALLING Install     
3 Attach stop plug (1) at digital tachograph (DTCO) control unit (A56)    
4 Mount installation frame (5) into center console (3). NOTES Make sure that the installation frame (5) is seated correctly.
Otherwise the digital tachograph (DTCO) control unit (A56) cannot be installed in a theft-proof manner.
 
    IMPORTANT To do so, push the tabs (4) outwards by approx. 90° in the direction of the arrow (a) using a suitable tool.  
5 Plug electrical connectors (6) into digital tachograph (DTCO) control unit (A56).    
6 Install digital tachograph (DTCO) control unit (A56) in installation frame (5) IMPORTANT The digital tachograph (DTCO) control unit (A56) must lock in the installation frame (5).  
7.1 Attach ground line of the on-board electrical system battery (G1). Model 447.6/7 with code ED4 (AGM battery 12 V 92 Ah) Model 447.6/7 with code EE8 (Battery 12V 100 Ah) Model 447.8  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR54.10-S-0003E 
7.2 Install new on-board electrical system battery (G1). Model 447.6/7 except code ED4 (AGM battery 12 V 92 Ah) except code EE8 (Battery 12V 100 Ah)  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   IMPORTANT Model 447.6/7 with code ED1 (Absorbent glass mat battery 12 V 70 Ah) Use on-board electrical system battery (G1) accordingly for code ED4 (AGM battery 12 V 92 Ah)
IMPORTANT Model 447.6/7 with on-board electrical system battery (G1) (battery 12 V 74 Ah) installed as standard
Use on-board electrical system battery (G1) accordingly for code EE8 (Battery 12 V 100 Ah).

8 Enter special equipment via Vehicle Documentation System (VeDoc). IMPORTANT Designation of corresponding special equipment: Code JD1 (Tachograph with digital technology).
The existing code JV6 (Tachograph preinstallation) must be removed
IMPORTANT Model 447.6/7 with code ED1 (Absorbent glass mat battery 12 V 70 Ah)
Designation of affected special equipment: Code ED4 (AGM battery 12 V 92 Ah).
The existing code ED1 (Absorbent glass mat battery 12 V 70 Ah) must be removed
IMPORTANT Model 447.6/7 with on-board electrical system battery (G1) (battery 12 V 74 Ah) installed as standard
 
    Designation of affected special equipment: Code EE8 (Battery 12 V 100 Ah).  
9 Connect vehicle diagnosis system; read out fault memory.    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-S-2000-04E
10 Perform SCN coding on electronic ignition lock (EIS) control unit (N73).    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   IMPORTANT Under the "Control unit adaptations" menu item follow the instructions for "SCN coding". AR54.21-S-0015E 
11 Perform SCN coding of instrument cluster (IC) control unit (A1/1).    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   IMPORTANT Under the "Control unit adaptations" menu item follow the instructions for "SCN coding". AR54.21-S-0015E 
12 Perform SCN coding on signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1). Only when on-board electrical system battery (G1) was retrofitted accordingly for code ED4 (AGM battery 12 V 92 Ah) or code EE8 (Battery 12 V 100 Ah).  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   IMPORTANT Under the "Control unit adaptations" menu item follow the instructions for "SCN coding". AR54.21-S-0015E 
13 Have initial calibration performed by authorized personnel. IMPORTANT When doing so, observe the operator's manual supplied with the digital tachograph (DTCO) control unit (A56).  
14 Disconnect diagnostic system from vehicle.    
INSPECT Check     
15 Perform check in accordance with respective national regulations. IMPORTANT In Germany, the check must be performed in accordance with 57b StVZO (Straβenverkehrs-Zulassungs-Ordnung - German Regulations Authorizing the Use of Vehicles for Road Traffic).
