Location 

The steering wheel electronics are located in the multifunction steering wheel itself.

Task 

The steering wheel electronics are used for data exchange between the multifunction steering wheel button groups and the steering column tube module control unit (N80).

The steering wheel electronics are connected through the steering wheel CAN (CAN LR) to the steering column tube module control unit.

The steering wheel electronics receive the following information:

• Steering wheel heater temperature (vehicles with steering wheel heater)
• Operation requests through multifunction steering wheel

The steering wheel electronics assess this and sends, e.g. the following information and requests:

• Status of steering wheel heater (vehicles with steering wheel heater)
• Request:
  • Steering wheel heater (vehicles with steering wheel heater)
  • Circuit 58d (symbol lighting)
  • Operation requests through multifunction steering wheel
