	Remove/install
1	Connect diagnostic system and store basic data from Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4)	Only when replacing the traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3).

2	Switch off ignition and keep transmitter key at a location beyond transmitter range (at least 2 m)

4	Remove left intake air duct	Model 166, 292 with engine 642
5	Clean traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3) in area of brake lines (1)	Before opening the brake system, the area around the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly. Even the smallest particles of dirt, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the SBC system.
6	Mark brake lines (1) for corresponding connection
7	Detach brake lines (1) from traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3)	Make sure that the routing of the brake lines (1) is unstressed and free of any chafing. Union nut, brake line to ESP® hydraulic unit	*BA42.45-P-1002-01J

		Model 166, 292 except code 233 (DISTRONIC PLUS) The work instructions for disconnecting the electrical connector (3) must be followed. Otherwise damage can occur on the locking mechanism. Do not touch, deform or damage electrical connector contacts (3) and jack. Do not allow any foreign objects, dirt or fluids in the electrical connector (3) or jack. 11	Remove traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3)
