Retrofit Wiring Harness For Running Board Illumination - AN82.10-P-0015-02GQC

IMPORTANT The installation is shown using the left-hand drive vehicle as an example. The SAM control unit (N10) is located on the right side of the vehicle in both the left-hand drive vehicles as well as in right-hand drive vehicles.

Delivery condition of wiring harness 

  1. Remove cable connector (6) and disconnect driver side wiring harness (5b) from passenger-side wiring harness (5a).

  2. Attach round cable lug (7) with Ø 6 mm to brown line (3b).
  3. Remove stop plugs (9) from left and right longitudinal member.

    IMPORTANT The 2nd stop plugs from the left rear and right rear must be removed. The stop plugs are no longer required.

  4. Use a pull-through aid to route passenger side wiring harness (5a) from outside to inside via opening in right longitudinal member and through the right B-pillar into vehicle interior. Route driver side wiring harness (5b) in the same fashion.

    IMPORTANT The black 2-pin connector (4a) together with the right running board courtesy light electrical female connector (E17/54) will later form the right running board courtesy light electrical connector (X157/25).

    In the same fashion, the black 2-pin connector (4b) together with the left running board courtesy light electrical female connector (E17/53) will later form the left running board courtesy light electrical connector (X157/24).

  5. Close opening in longitudinal member with grommet (1a).
  6. Close opening in longitudinal member with grommet (1b).
  7. Apply felt strips (10, 11) to body edges.
  8. Clip cable tie with mounting clip (12) into opening in longitudinal member.

    IMPORTANT The cable tie with mounting clip (12) is already installed on passenger side wiring harness (5a) or driver side wiring harness (5b).

  9. Fix passenger side wiring harness (5a) or driver side wiring harness (5b) in place on rear door/emergency tensioning retractor wiring harness (14) using cable tie (13).

  10. Wrap passenger side wiring harness (5a) and driver side wiring harness (5b) in routing area between B-pillar and A-pillar with felt tape.
  11. Route passenger side wiring harness (5a) and driver side wiring harness (5b) along wiring harnesses at vehicle end without chafing and kinking up to A-pillar and fix in place.
  12. Connect brown line (3b) to left footwell ground point (W15/2).
  13. Route gray/black line (2b) along wiring harnesses at vehicle end without chafing and kinking to SAM control unit (N10) and fix in place.
  14. Connect brown line (3a) to right footwell ground point (W15/1). TORQUE SPECIFICATION
  15. Route gray line (2a) along wiring harnesses at vehicle end without chafing and kinking to SAM control unit (N10) and fix in place.

  16. Release and detach black connector (15) at SAM control unit (N10).
  17. Release gray contact carrier (15a) and pull out of black supporting body (15.1).
  18. Insert gray line (2a) in contact cavity 38 of gray contact carrier (15a).
  19. Insert gray/black line (2b) in contact cavity 48 of gray contact carrier (15a).
  20. Engage gray contact carrier (15a) into black supporting body (15.1).
  21. Insert and lock black connector (15) at SAM control unit (N10).
