Connection scheme
- Starting at black 2-pin connectors (12a, 12b), disconnect gray/white lines (GY/WH) and brown lines (BN) from wiring harness included in scope of supply.
The two branch-off lines form the wiring harnesses for the left front illuminated door sill molding (E17/47) and the right front illuminated door sill molding (E17/48). The longer wiring harness is intended for the driver side. The rest of the wiring harness is no longer required.
- Extend each of the brown lines (BN) with a commercially available brown line and a potential distributor (14) by 1.10 m (42.90 inches).
Diameter of commercially available brown line 0.75 mm 2 (1.48 kcmil).
Only potential distributors (14) from the
basic wiring harness repair kit or the
supplementary wiring harness repair kit for passenger cars are to be used.
- Wrap each of the gray/white lines (GY/WH) and the brown lines (BN) starting at the black 2-pin connectors (12a, 12b) at a length of 2 m (78.74 inches) using felt strips.
- Connect black 2-pin plug of left front illuminated door sill molding (E17/47) to black 2-pin connector of gray/white and brown line thus establishing the electrical connection of the left front illuminated door sill molding (E17/47x1).
The longer wiring harness is intended for the driver side.
- Clip electrical connector of left front illuminated door sill molding (E17/47x1) into bracket of cable duct as shown.
- Route gray/white line and brown line on left between cable ducts and floor covering on left into rear area.
Use a pull-through device.
- Connect black 2-pin plug of right front illuminated door sill molding (E17/48) to black 2-pin connector of gray/white and brown line thus establishing the electrical connection of the right front illuminated door sill molding (E17/48x1).
- Clip electrical connector of right front illuminated door sill molding (E17/48x1) into bracket of cable duct.
- Route gray/white line and brown line on right between cable ducts and floor covering on right into rear area.
Use a pull-through device.
- Install a commercially available round cable lug Ø 6 mm (13) on the two brown lines (BN) in each case.
- Lift rear floor covering.
- Route the two gray/white lines (GY/WH) to the rear control unit (N10/8) and fix in place using felt strips.
- Route the two brown lines (BN) to the right rear seat ground point (W17) and fix in place with felt strips.
- Connect two brown lines (BN) to right rear seat ground point (W17)
.
- Disconnect curry yellow 52-pin connector (1) from rear control unit (N10/8).
- Remove gray contact carrier (1a) with assignment "1" to "26" from curry yellow 52-pin connector (1).
- Install left contact of gray/white line of left front illuminated door sill molding (E17/47) in contact cavity "12" of gray contact carrier (1a) (arrow B).
- Install right contact of gray/white line of right front illuminated door sill molding (E17/48) in contact cavity "11" of gray contact carrier (1a) (arrow A).
- Install gray contact carrier (1a) into curry yellow 52-pin connector (1).
- Connect curry yellow 52-pin connector (1) to rear control unit (N10/8).
