Detach/Attach Torque Converter Of Clutch Plate - AR27.20-P-0001-01EWM

TORQUE CONVERTER

Remove 

  1. Unscrew screws/bolts (1 to 4) opposite direction of engine rotation (arrow) through opening in housing.

    IMPORTANT Transmission 725.0 with engine 274, 276, 278, 642, 651 Turn the engine further in the direction of engine rotation at the crankshaft center bolt using SPECIAL TOOL socket.

    IMPORTANT Transmission 725.0 with engine 176, 177 Turn engine further in direction of engine rotation at center bolt of crankshaft using SPECIAL TOOL box wrench.

    IMPORTANT Transmission 725.0 with engine 256, 654, 656 Turn engine further in direction of engine rotation at vibration damper of crankshaft using SPECIAL TOOL counterholder.

    If center bolt or vibration damper is not accessible.

    Turn the engine further at the torque converter using a wide screwdriver.

  2. Pry torque converter off drive plate using SPECIAL TOOL long wedge.

    Check 

  3. Check threaded inserts in drive plate for loose fitting and damage; replace drive plate if necessary.

    Install 

  4. Check whether torque converter is lying flat against drive plate.

    If necessary, press torque converter onto drive plate using SPECIAL TOOL long wedge.

  5. Tighten screws/bolts (1 to 4) in numerical sequence TORQUE SPECIFICATION .

    IMPORTANT Replace the screws/bolts (1 to 4).
