Preparation 

Always replace elastomer bearings as pair.

The following tool from extraction and insertion tool is required:

• spacer (08) 205 589 00 43 08

1. Position spacer (08) with the spacer plates (arrows) such that it can be engaged in the rear axle carrier (1) with almost zero clearance.
2. Engage spacer (08) with the longer side in the rear axle carrier (1) in direction of travel.

   The spacer (08) must remain in the rear axle carrier (1) for removal/installation of elastomer bearing. Otherwise the rear axle carrier (1) may be damaged.

3. Pry off stop plate (2) from respective elastomer bearing (3) using suitable tool.
4. Mark the installation position of the respective elastomer bearing (3) on the cutout (arrow).

   Remove 

   The following tools are required from the extraction and insertion tool:

   • Thrust piece (01) 205 589 00 43 01
   • Counterholder (04) 205 589 00 43 04
   • thrust spindle (05) 205 589 00 43 05
   • spindle nut (06) 205 589 00 43 06
5. Attach thrust piece (01), counterholder (04), thrust spindle (05) and spindle nut (06) with the hollow cylinder (015) and retaining belt (014) at elastomer bearing (3).

   Mount hollow cylinder (015) such that pressure piston extends upward.

   Otherwise the thrust arm can get damaged.

   The counterholder (04) must be positioned such that the mark "L" or "R" (arrows) on the relevant side points to outer side of the vehicle.

6. Connect the hand pump using hydraulic hose (013) to hollow cylinder (015).
7. Press elastomer bearing (3) out of rear axle carrier (1).

   Install 

   The following tools are required from the extraction and insertion tool:

   • thrust piece (02) 205 589 00 43 02
   • counterholder (03) 205 589 00 43 03
   • thrust spindle (05) 205 589 00 43 05
   • spindle nut (06) 205 589 00 43 06
   • pilot bushing (07) 205 589 00 43 07
8. Make true vertical marking (A) in area of cutout as bearing aid on elastomer bearing (3).
9. Screw on pilot bushing (07) on thrust spindle (05) far enough until the thread excess length is sufficient for mounting the elastomer bearing (3) and the thrust piece (02).
10. Insert thrust spindle (05) with pilot bushing (07) into rear axle carrier (1) from below.
11. Mount elastomer bearing (3) on thrust spindle (05) from above.

12. Screw on thrust piece (02) on thrust spindle (05) while aligning it with the stop plate (2).

    Ensure that the studs of thrust piece (02) lie flush with stop plate (2) (arrows).

13. Align true vertical mark (A) on elastomer bearing (3) with the mark on the rear axle carrier (1).
14. Coat elastomer bearing (3) with lubricant.
15. Screw in pilot bushing (07) by hand until thrust piece (02), elastomer bearing (3) and pilot bushing (07) are clamped together.
16. Slide counterholder (03) onto thrust spindle (05) and align using cutout towards threaded connection for thrust arm on rear axle carrier (1) (arrow).
17. Slide on hollow cylinder (015) with retaining belt (014) onto thrust spindle (05), screw on spindle nut (06) and tighten by hand.

18. Press elastomer bearing (3) into rear axle carrier (1).

    Press elastomer bearing (3) far enough in until the edge of the elastomer bearing (3) is flush fitted to the rear axle carrier (1) (arrows).

19. Remove special tools.
