Prepare Windshield CROSSMEMBER For Installation - Ar62.25-P-1120-03LW

IMPORTANT The next steps are shown on model 205.0.

The crossmember can be separated at the standard joints or cut, if required.

Preparation of the crossmember when separated on the left at the standard joining point and on the right by cutting is shown below as an example.

  1. Mark separating point on crossmember (1) and cut (area A).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Transfer separation point from vehicle.

  2. Expose spot welds on crossmember (1) and cut off (areas B and C).

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (area C).

  3. Expose spot welds on crossmember (1) and drill with Ø 6.5 mm bit (area D).
  4. Remove section from crossmember (1).

  5. Grind mating surfaces on crossmember (1) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  6. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  7. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area E).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
