The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 213 and must be performed in the same way on the right side of the vehicle in the event of damage.

1. Grind mating surfaces on firewall (3) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

2. Grind mating surfaces on firewall (3) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
3. Remove grinding dust.

   Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

4. Mark separating point on firewall crossmember (5) and cut (area K).

   Transfer separation point from vehicle.

   If the connection is to be crimped, observe overlap of 10 mm.

5. Cut out spot welds on firewall crossmember (5) (areas L and L₁ ).
6. Heat firewall crossmember (5) in crosshatched area and remove section from firewall crossmember (5).

   Cross-hatched area is bonded.

7. Grind mating surfaces on firewall crossmember (5) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

9. Remove grinding dust.

   Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

10. Grind mating surfaces on pedal bowl (4) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
11. Remove grinding dust.

    Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
