Location

The Audio/COMAND control panel is located on the center console between the front seats.

Tasks

The Audio/COMAND control panel is the central control for the telematics functions. With the Audio/COMAND control panel, the functions that can be displayed on the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) can be operated.

The Audio/COMAND control panel receives the following signals:

Power supply of circuit 30g and circuit 31 via a direct line
Control data from audio equipment via telematics CAN (CAN A)

The Audio/COMAND control panel sends the following signals:

Control signals via telematics CAN to the audio equipment

Body

The Audio/COMAND control panel is equipped with the following controls:

Audio/COMAND controller for navigation within the menu and selection of menu items, for operation of character bar on Audio/COMAND display and for navigating on the Internet
"Back" button, to jump back a level within a menu
With CODE 531 (COMAND APS): Home and Favorites button (A40/9s16), to call up base functions and favorites
With CODE 505 (Radio 20 NTG5 non-navigation-capable) or with CODE 522 (Audio 20 radio): "Delete" button to delete individual characters or entire entries
With CODE 505 (Radio 20 NTG5 non-navigation-capable) or with CODE 522 (Audio 20 radio): left free programming button and right free programming button (except CODE 399 (Front multicontour seats with massage function)), to jump to a user-specified menu
With CODE 505 (Radio 20 NTG5 non-navigation-capable) or with CODE 522 (Audio 20 radio): display OFF button (except CODE 399 (Front multicontour seats with massage function)), to switch off the Audio/COMAND display
With CODE 505 (Radio 20 NTG5 non-navigation-capable) or with CODE 522 (Audio 20 radio): "Seat" button (A40/9s4) (with CODE 399 (Front multicontour seats with massage function)), to activate the multicontour seats function (with CODE 399 (Front multicontour seats with massage function))

Function

The buttons are designed as push/push buttons.

The following individual operations are possible with the Audio/COMAND controller:

Press: Down vertically
Turn: To left or right
Slide: In four quadrants (Y and X direction, and in diagonal direction)

Audio/COMAND control panel with 4 buttons: with CODE 505 (Radio 20 NTG5 non-navigation-capable) or with CODE 522 (Audio 20 radio); with CODE 399 (Front multicontour seats with massage function) the "Seat" button is located at the bottom right, except CODE 399 (Front multicontour seats with massage function) the "Display OFF" button is located at the bottom right
