DANGER Risk of poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A
DANGER Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work. Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system. AS42.50-Z-0002-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Lift/jack up vehicle   AR00.60-P-1000G
CLEAN Clean     
2 Clean area surrounding connecting points to be opened on the brake system NOTES
Before opening the brake system the area around the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly.
Even the smallest particles of dirt, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the brake system.
IMPORTANT Only use clean, lint free rags and cleaner free of mineral oil. Do not use any compressed- air for cleaning when the brake system is open.
 
  Perform operation steps 3 to 6 only for removal of brake hoses (1) from brake calipers     
3 Detach rear complete wheels    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP40.10-P-4050G
4 Detach brake line (2) from brake hose (1) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT It must be ensured that the components are installed so that they do not chafe against other components and that they are not subject to torsion.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Brake line to brake hose *BA42.10-P-1001-04B

5 Collect any escaping brake fluid using a suitable container    
6 Seal exposed connections with plugs SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Figure
7 Detach cable tie (5) from brake hose (1) Model 463
as of model year 2013 up to model year 2016
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace cable tie (5).
 
8 Detach brake hose (1) from brake caliper INSTALLATION IMPORTANT It must be ensured that the components are installed so that they do not chafe against other components and that they are not subject to torsion.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Brake hose to rear axle floating caliper *BA42.10-P-1005-04B

9 Collect any escaping brake fluid using a suitable container    
10 Seal exposed connections with plugs SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Figure
  Perform operation steps 7 to 8 only for removal of brake hoses (4) from vehicle body at rear axle     
11 Detach upper and lower brake lines (3) from brake hoses (4) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT It must be ensured that the components are installed so that they do not chafe against other components and that they are not subject to torsion.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT It must be ensured that the retaining springs (7) are seated correctly.
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Brake line to brake hose *BA42.10-P-1001-04B 
SPECIAL TOOL Box wrench bit Figure

12 Collect any escaping brake fluid using a suitable container    
13 Seal exposed connections with plugs SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Figure
14 Pull brake hoses (4) out of rubber retainers (8)    
15 Install in the reverse order    
16 Bleed brake system   AR42.10-P-0010GW
