Pushing off
- Unscrew nut (1)
from tie rod joint (2).
- Pry off tie rod (2) from steering knuckle (3).
Removal: Use
puller for prying off tie rod (2) from steering knuckle (3).
Install
- Clean centering cone and thread on tie rod ball joint (2) and mount on steering knuckle (3).
There must be no grease or oil on the centering cone, thread and on the mount. Otherwise, the tie rod ball joint (2) may work its way loose.
- Mount self-locking nut (1) onto tie rod ball joint (2).
If necessary, counterhold tie rod joint (2) using a suitable tool. Note specified tightening torque.
