Risk Of Death Or Serious Injury When Working On Liquefied Gas Systems - AS00.00-Z-0022-01A
Model all (light vans, Car)
Before starting work, make sure that all sources of ignition have been removed.
Wear protective clothing, safety gloves and goggles.
Possible dangers
Risk of death or serious injury
There is a risk of explosion from leaking liquid gas from a leaky liquid gas system in closed rooms, or from overheating of the pressurized gas container during work.
Risk of burns in the event of an explosion.
Risk of frostbite to skin and body parts from escaping liquid gas, and from contact with components close to the valve when emptying pressurized gas containers.
Danger of suffocation from inhaling liquid gas.
Rules of conduct / protective measures
- Wear protective clothing, safety gloves and goggles.
- Have suitable fire extinguishing equipment ready
- Keep flammable substances and objects away from the consumer facilities
- Avoid sparking
- Fire control of the areas at risk and their surroundings after the work has been carried out
- Never carry out work in closed rooms
Before starting work, make sure that all sources of ignition have been removed. Sufficient ventilation of the immediate vicinity of the vehicle must be ensured.
Sufficient ventilation means at least 3 air changes per hour at a distance of 3 meters from the gas shut-off valve.
The gas shut-off valves on the pressurized gas containers must be closed before starting the repair work.
Valve of the gas cylinder must be shut off when the vehicle is in closed rooms for a long time, e.g. workshops or garages. Maintenance and repair work may only be carried out by specially trained personnel.
Since leaks in the gas system can lead to explosions, a leak test must be carried out in the course of repair work during which the pipeline system of the liquefied gas devices is opened before restarting.
In the Federal Republic of Germany, this leak test can only be carried out by a DVFG expert in accordance with DVGW worksheet G 607.
(DVFG - German Association for Liquid Gas)
(DVGW - German Gas and Water Association)
Country-specific regulations must be observed.
First aid measures:
Move affected persons out of the danger area.
After contact with the eyes, wash the eyes thoroughly with plenty of water, making sure that the lid is held open while washing.
For skin affected by frostbite, rinse the affected area with clean water. The patient should rest and be kept warm.
If after inhalation, the person experiences drowsiness, headache, impaired vision, or irritation of the eyes/nose/throat, move the person to fresh air immediately. Place unconscious people in a stable position on their side and check breathing and pulse. If breathing stops or becomes irregular, mouth-to-mouth resuscitation may be necessary. If necessary, perform cardiac massage.
Call a doctor immediately in the event of any symptoms.
