1	Close rear-end doors or liftgate as well as engine hood and doors	Vehicles with code (491) USA version or code (494) USA version
2.1	Turn key in ignition switch to position "1"	Vehicles up to Model year 1999
2.2	Switch on ignition	Vehicles as of MY 2000
3	Press system selection button (S110s3) repeatedly until (A1p13) daily distance and total distance is displayed	If necessary.
4	Press lower scroll forward/back button (S110s1)	A1p13The service indicator (e.g. "Service B in 400 km") appears in the multifunction display.
5	Press and hold instrument illumination variable resistor (A1r1) for 3 seconds	A confirmation inquiry appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
6	Press and hold instrument illumination variable resistor (A1r1) for Approx. 2 seconds	The updated service indicator appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
7	Turn key in ignition lock to position "0"
