Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. WARNING Risk of burn injuries,  suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area. AS49.00-Z-0001-01A
  Preparatory activity     
1 Call up workshop level in the instrument cluster. Engine 176, 256, 264, 274, 654, 656 in model 167 AP00.20-P-0046B

2 Start engine. IMPORTANT Vehicle must be on a level surface.  
3 Select "Vehicle data" panel in workshop menu by making wiping movements on the finger navigation pad. 9 IMPORTANT The oil filling capacity in the oil pan without the oil filter is displayed in the multifunction display.  
4 Select "Oil level" display by making wiping movements on the finger navigation pad. IMPORTANT The oil level is displayed in the multifunction display.  
5 Select "Oil filling capacity up to maximum oil level" display by making wiping movements on the finger navigation pad. t IMPORTANT The oil filling capacity to maximum oil level is displayed in the multifunction display.  
INSPECT Check     
6 Check engine oil level in the multifunction display using the "Oil filling capacity up to maximum oil level" display. IMPORTANT To receive a valid measurement value, the engine must have been running for at least 120 s since starting and the engine oil temperature must be > 60°C. If the "Oil filling capacity up to maximum oil level" display value is between 0.2 l and -0.1 l, ↓
Engine oil level OK.
If the "Oil filling capacity up to maximum oil level" display value is < -0.1 l, ↓
drain excess quantity of oil and repeat test from operation step 1.

    If the "Oil filling capacity up to maximum oil level" display value is > 0.2 l, ↓
top up following quantity of oil and repeat test from operation step 1.

7 Exit workshop level in the instrument cluster. Engine 176, 256, 264, 274, 654, 656 in model 167
