Location
The rear door control units are located on the corresponding door module behind the door trim.

The rear door control units have the following tasks:
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
- Left rear door LIN (LIN B9) (as of 03.04.2018)
- Right rear door LIN (LIN B10) (as of 03.04.2018)
Direct line
The left rear door control unit reads in the signals from the following components over direct lines:
- Left rear door main catch microswitch (A85/3s2) (as of 03.04.2018) or left rear door rotary tumbler switch (A85/3s1) (up to 02.04.2018)
- Hall sensor in left rear door power window motor (M10/5)
- Left rear power window switch (S213)
- Right rear power window switch (S214)
The rear door control units connect the connected control elements with circuit 58d.
Interior CAN
The left rear door control unit and right rear door control unit reads in the following signals via the interior CAN as an example:
- Terminal status of terminal 15
- Central locking system unlocking/locking request
- Crash signal
- Convenience feature mode
- Convenience feature direction
Left rear door LIN (as of 03.04.2018)
The left rear door control unit reads in the signals from the following components over direct lines:
- Right rear door main catch microswitch (A85/4s2) (as of 03.04.2018) or right rear door rotary tumbler switch (A85/4s1) (up to 02.04.2018)
- Hall sensor in right rear door power window motor (M10/6)
The left rear door control unit reads in the signals of the left rear seat heater button (S51/3) via the left rear door LIN.
Right rear door LIN (as of 03.04.2018)
The right rear door control unit reads in the signals of the right rear seat heater button (S51/4) via the right rear door LIN.
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Interior CAN
Direct line
The following component parts are actuated via direct lines and/or supplied with power from the left rear door control unit:
- Left rear door central locking motor (A85/3m1)
- Left rear door exit and warning lamp (E175)
- Left rear door handle illumination (E1713)
- Left rear door ambiance illumination (E17/45)
- Left rear door power window motor
- Left rear seat heater button (as of 03.04.2018)
The following component parts are actuated via direct lines and/or supplied with power from the right rear door control unit:
- Right rear door central locking motor (A85/4m1)
- Right rear door exit and warning lamp (E176)
- Right rear door handle illumination (E17/14)
- Right rear door ambiance illumination (E17/46)
- Right rear door power window motor
- Right rear seat heater button (as of 03.04.2018)
The rear door control units supply the rear door handle lighting and rear door ambient lighting with power; the actuation is realized by the ambient lighting control unit (N162).
Interior CAN
The left rear door control unit and right rear door control unit reads in the following signals via the interior CAN as an example:
- Status of CL
- Door status (open/closed)
- Seat heater request
