Location
The rear control unit is located in the left of the trunk.
Model 207.4
Location
The rear control unit is located in the rear right of the luggage compartment.
Task
The rear control unit has the following tasks:
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Control of systems
- Actuating components
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in with the following connections:
- Direct lines
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
Direct lines
The signals from the following components are read via direct lines:
- Hall sensors of left seat belt extender (A10)
- Hall sensors of right seat belt extender (A11)
- Hall sensor of left rear power window motor (M10/5)
- Hall sensor of right rear power window motor (M10/6)
- Left rear power window switch (S21/3)
- Right rear power window switch (S21/4)
Additionally for model 207.4:
- Temperature sensor (A7/5b1) for soft top control hydraulic unit (A7/5)
- Hall sensors in rear head restraint drive actuator motor (M28/14)
- Limit switch in wind deflector actuator motor (M96/2)
- Left lower head restraint limit switch (S52/8)
- Right lower head restraint limit switch (S52/9)
- Soft top control switch (S84):
- Draft stop and wind deflector button (S84s4)
- Electrically operated windows central operating switch (S84s5)
- Limit switch (S84/3) soft top open
- Variable soft top compartment limit switch (S84/9)
- Left soft top limit switch locked, (S84/11)
- Soft top compartment lid open/close switch group (S84/13)
- Soft top bow down/up limit switch (S84/15)
- Soft top limit switch in catch position (S84/18)

Interior CAN
The signals are read in by the rear control unit over the interior CAN. The functions resulting therefrom are described in the corresponding function descriptions.
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
Control of systems
The rear control unit actuates the following systems:
- Rear electrically operated windows
- Seat belt extender
- Head restraint lowering mechanism (with model 207.4)
- Soft top control (with model 207.4)
Component actuation
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
- Direct lines
- Interior CAN
Direct lines
The following components are actuated via direct lines:
- Seat belt extender on left
- Right belt extender
- Left rear power window motor
- Right rear power window motor
- Actuation of switch and controls illumination in operating switches (Circuit 58d)
Additionally for model 207.4:
- Solenoid valves in soft top control hydraulic unit
- Hydraulic pump relay in soft top control hydraulic unit
- Trunk lid central locking motor
- Actuator motor for head restraint drive in rear passenger compartment
- Wind deflector actuator motor
- Light emitting diodes (LED) for draft stop and wind deflector button
Interior CAN
The signals are sent by the rear control unit over the interior CAN. The functions resulting therefrom are described in the corresponding function descriptions.
