Load CD or DVD function sequence

After pressing the Load button on the audio equipment, the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) shows the "Cartridge menu" and details on the last selected CD/DVD slot in the CD/DVD changer. The required CD/DVD slot can be selected by turning or pressing on the Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9) to the left or right. Selection is confirmed by pressing vertically onto the Audio/COMAND control panel.

The desired CD/DVD slot can also be directly selected using the keypad (1 to 6) on the audio equipment.

A CD or DVD must not be inserted until the corresponding request to do so appears on the Audio/COMAND display, e.g. "Please insert Disc 2". After inserting the CD or DVD into the CD/DVD drive the Audio/COMAND display shows a message, e.g. "Disc 2 loading...".

IMPORTANT The duration of the loading process can vary depending on the type of data storage device involved.

Once the CD or DVD is loaded, the display changes back to the "Cartridge menu". If no CD or DVD is inserted, the display also changes back to "Magazine menu" after approx. 20 s. A loaded CD or DVD is shown in the "Cartridge menu".

The "Fill up empty spaces" menu enables several CDs or DVDs to be loaded one after the other. A CD or DVD must not be inserted until the corresponding request to do so appears on the Audio/COMAND display, e.g. "Please insert Disc 3". The audio equipment then starts to load the empty CD/DVD slots.

The data exchange between the "audio equipment", the Audio/COMAND display and the Audio/COMAND control panel takes place via the telematics CAN (CAN A). Video signals are transmitted via a low voltage differential signaling (LVDS) line to the Audio/COMAND display.

Eject CD or DVD function sequence

After pressing the Load button on the audio equipment, the Audio/COMAND display shows the "Cartridge menu" including details on the last selected CD/DVD slot in the CD/DVD changer. The desired CD/DVD slot can be selected by turning or pressing the controls on the Audio/COMAND control panel to the left or right. Selection is confirmed by pressing vertically onto the Audio/COMAND control panel.

The desired CD/DVD slot can also be directly selected using the keypad (1 to 6) on the audio equipment.

While the CD or DVD is ejected, a message appears in the Audio/COMAND display (e.g. "Disk 2 being ejected..."). As soon as the CD or DVD appears in the CD/DVD drive slot, a corresponding message is shown (e.g. "Please remove disc 2").

Once the CD or DVD is removed, the display changes back to the "Cartridge menu". If the CD or DVD is not removed, the CD or DVD is loaded again.

The "Eject all" menu enables all the loaded CDs or DVDs to be removed one after the other.

As soon as the CD or DVD appears in the CD/DVD drive slot, a corresponding message appears (e.g. "Please remove disc 3"). Once the CD or DVD is removed from the CD/DVD drive slot, the next CD or DVD is ejected until the entire CD/DVD cartridge is empty. An ejected CD or DVD is shown in the "Cartridge menu" as an empty CD/DVD slot.

IMPORTANT The eject procedure can be stopped at any time by pressing the load button on the audio equipment or the "Back" button (A40/9s2) of the Audio/COMAND control panel.
