REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove left door sill molding    
2 Remove A-pillar paneling at bottom left    
3 Remove cover below left of instrument panel    
4 Remove accelerator pedal    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR30.12-P-1321CW
5 Remove left front floor covering    
6 Remove right side paneling at bottom in rear    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR68.30-P-4780ED
7 Remove A-pillar paneling at bottom right    
8 Remove right front floor covering    
9 Remove C-pillar paneling at top right    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR68.30-P-4490EC
10 Set selector lever in position "N" or gearshift lever to neutral position IMPORTANT Depending on vehicle equipment.  
11 Remove cover (7) of selector lever or gearshift lever SPECIAL TOOL Long wedge Figure
12 Remove front stowage compartment or ashtray (6)    
13.1 Remove cover (5) Vehicles without CODE 301 (Ashtray package/smoker package)  
13.2 Remove rear ashtray Vehicles with CODE 301 (Ashtray package/smoker package)  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR68.20-P-2230CW
14 Remove radio (A2), radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) or COMAND controller unit (A40/3)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR82.60-P-7502EW 
15 Remove front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) and place to one side with electrical connectors attached    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR54.21-P-1260CW
16 Remove multifunction antenna mock-up or multifunction antenna (A28/11)   AN82.70-P-0008-03EC
IMPORTANT The multifunction antenna mock-up or the multifunction antenna (A28/11) are no longer required.  
INSTALLING Install     
17 Install multifunction antenna (A28/11) for comfort telephony   AN82.70-P-8951-06EC
IMPORTANT Screw, antenna base to vehicle roof *BA82.62-P-1001-01D 
18 Retrofit antenna line (1) for comfort telephony   AN82.70-P-0008-02EC
19 Install remaining parts IMPORTANT Operation steps 9 to 6.  
20 Retrofit power supply wiring harness (2)   AN82.70-P-0008-01EC
21 Install remaining parts IMPORTANT Operation steps 15, 14 and 5 to 1.  
22 Retrofit phone bracket (4) in center console (3)   AN82.70-P-0001-02EC
23 Install remaining parts IMPORTANT Operation steps 13.2 to 10.  
24 Enter special equipment in online vehicle data card via vehicle documentation system (VeDoc) IMPORTANTAdd: 
  • CODE 386 (Comfort telephony)
 
25 Document retrofitted equipment in VeDoc IMPORTANT Attach the note "Comfort telephony retrofitted as per AN82.70-P-0008EC " under field organization texts to design group 82.  
26 Connect Star Diagnosis and select vehicle via the vehicle identification number (VIN)    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04A
27 Perform variant coding with XENTRY using the software calibration number (SCN) IMPORTANT The following control units must be coded with XENTRY using SCN:
  • Instrument cluster
  • Radio (A2) (with CODE 523 (MB Audio 20 radio) or CODE 510 (Audio 20 with CD changer)) or
  • Radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) (with CODE 525 (MB Audio 50 APS radio) or CODE 511 (Audio 50 APS with DVD changer)) or
  • COMAND controller unit (A40/3) (with CODE 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)) or CODE 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer))
 
28 Disconnect STAR DIAGNOSIS    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04A
INSPECT Check     
29 Perform function test of comfort telephony
