Function requirements for video operation in general 

• Circuit 30g ON
• Transport mode not active
• A video DVD is inserted into the DVD/CD magazine of the COMAND controller unit (A40/3)

The video DVD function is only available for a stationary vehicle. Only acoustic playback is active while driving for safety reasons, and a warning appears on the audio/COMAND display. The COMAND controller unit reads in the speed signal from the interior CAN (CAN B).

Video mode, general 

The DVD drive of the COMAND controller unit supports playback of video DVDs. Here, the video image is shown on the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) after the "Video" menu and the "DVD Video" submenu have been activated.

The system can be operated as follows: Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9), buttons on the COMAND controller unit or the remote control (A8/7) (with CODE 867 (SPLITVIEW))

Function sequence for video mode 

The picture signals are transmitted via a separate video line within the COMAND controller unit. The COMAND controller unit transmits the video data to the audio/COMAND display via a low voltage differential signal (LVDS) line.

On vehicles except CODE 810 (Sound system), the COMAND controller unit emits the audio signals over the speaker system.

On vehicles with CODE 810 (Sound system), the audio signals are forwarded over the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3), where they are then amplified and emitted over the speaker system.

On vehicles with CODE 867 (SPLITVIEW), the audio signals are issued over the radio frequency headphones (H8/3) or over the headphones electrical connector (cabled) (X39/6).
