Location 

The radio with auto pilot system is located in the center console.

Task 

The radio with auto pilot system has the following tasks:

Main operating unit of the entertainment and communication systems 

The radio with auto pilot system provides the user with a structured and uniform interface for the following system components:

Reading in of signals 

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

Direct line 

The following signals are read in via a direct line:

CAN 

The radio with auto pilot system is an interior CAN (CAN B) and telematics CAN (CAN A) subscriber.

The signals are read in by the radio with auto pilot system. The functions resulting therefrom are described in the corresponding function descriptions.

Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) 

The radio with autopilot system receives the control and audio signals from the following control unit via MOST:

Evaluation of input factors 

The input factors are evaluated by the microprocessor and the corresponding components are actuated.

Actuation of system components 

The following output signals are output by the radio with autopilot system to actuate the system components:

Function 

The operating requests that are issued via the button panels on the radio with auto pilot system are read in by the radio itself and made available to the central computer, where they are processed and forwarded to the relevant system components accordingly via the MOST, the telematics CAN or the interior CAN.

If the "ON" button on the radio with auto pilot system is pressed, the radio with auto pilot system switches itself on. The volume for the relevant audio source is regulated by turning the "ON" button. The function keys in the left button panel are used to switch over to the audio source selected by the user or to the system setting.

The radio with auto pilot system is available in the following variants:

Diagnosis 

The radio with auto pilot system is the diagnosis gateway for all MOST subscribers. The diagnostic communication takes place between the radio with the auto pilot system and the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) via the interior CAN. The diagnostic communication between the front SAM control unit and the diagnostic connector (X11/4) connected to the "IS tester" is performed via diagnostic CAN (CAN D).
