- Locator lighting (AFB)
- Emergency light actuation, function
Function sequence, on-board network increase
When the on-board electrical system voltage is decreased by the energy management below the minimum voltage of a light function during normal driving operation, the front SAM control unit can suppress shutoff of the corresponding light function with the aid of the on-board electrical system increase. For this purpose, the front SAM control unit requests the minimum voltage necessary for the corresponding light function. The lighting functions for which the on-board electrical system increase is to be activated are defined during production.
The following functions can be coded:
- Low beam actuation in darkness (without CODE 640 (SAE dynamic LED headlamp for right-hand traffic) and without CODE 641 (SAE dynamic LED headlamp for left-hand traffic) and without CODE 642 (Dynamic LED headlamp for right-hand traffic))
- Backup light actuation
- Rear fog light actuation (without CODE 460 (Canada version) and without CODE 494 (USA version))
Function sequence for switching off the exterior lights
Switching off the exterior lights prevents the on-board electrical system battery (G1) from being discharged by the active low beam and standing light actuation.
The low beams may be switched on due to the auto on/off driving lights, the daytime running lights or manually via the exterior lights switch.
A prerequisite for this is that the status of circuit 15 is On.
If circuit 15 is Off, the low beams are switched off.
The standing lights may be switched on because the low beams have been manually switched on, because of the auto on/off driving lights or manually via the exterior lights switch.
If the standing lights have been activated because of the manually activated low beams, auto on/off driving lights or daytime running lights and the driver door is opened with the status circuit 15C On, the standing lights are switched off.
The standing lights are switched off when the energy management determines that the engine's starting capability is impaired due to discharging of the on-board electrical system battery.
If the "Ambient illumination" function is activated via the instrument cluster, it automatically switches itself on when the engine is turned off. The standing lights remain switched on for an adjustable time interval of no more than t = 60 s.
The "Ambient illumination" function is described in the "Headlamp switch-off delay (SWA) function" information.
