Reading in of signals
Signals are read in via the following connection:
- Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
- Direct lines

- FM station lists from audio equipment
- FM signals from audio equipment:
- As of 1.7.11 with CODE 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer) or with CODE 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation))
- As of 1.6.12 with CODE 510 (Audio 20 with CD changer) or with CODE 523 (MB Audio 20 radio)
Direct lines
The following signals are read in via a direct line:
- Wake-up
- Digital radio (DAB) L-band signals from the multifunction antenna (A28/11) (up to 30.11.10)
- DAB band III signals from rear window antenna (A2/32) via the rear window antenna FM antenna amplifier (A2/19) (model 207.3)
- DAB band III signals from the windshield antenna (A2/118) via the TV 3 FM2 and DAB band III (A2/54) antenna amplifier, with CODE 863 (Digital/analog TV tuner) or CODE 865 (TV tuner) via the TV antenna splitter (A2/89) (model 207.4)
Decoding of signals
The Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit decodes the DAB L-band signals (up to 30.11.10) and the DAB band III signals into PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) signals.
Transmitting signals
The Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit sends signals over the MOST:
- DAB status and station lists to the audio equipment
- Audio signals to the following control units:
- Audio equipment (except CODE 810 (Sound system))
- Sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) (with CODE 810 (Sound system))

In vehicles as of 1.7.11 with CODE 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer) or CODE 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)) and in all vehicles as of 1.6.12, the Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit is designed as a twin tuner and supports the extended audio codec DAB+ and Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) audio.
