| 1 | Connect diagnostic system and perform initial startup of Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) | When replacing Audio/COMAND display (A408). | |

| 2 | Remove passenger side trim piece from instrument panel | AR68.10-P-1180EL | |
| 3 | Unclip cover (1) on catch hooks (arrows) from instrument cluster (2) by hand | ||
| 4 | Unclip electrical wiring harness (3) from cover (1) and remove cover (1) | ||
| 5 | Remove screws/bolts (4) | ||
| 6 | Tilt Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) backwards at the top and take out far enough from instrument panel (2) until electrical connectors (5) are accessible | Otherwise there is a risk that the electrical connectors (5) and the screen surface may be damaged. |

| 7 | Disconnect electrical connectors (5) and remove Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) | ||
| 8 | Install in the reverse order |
