Remove/install WLAN antenna - AR82.85-P-0004EL

MODEL 218 as of model year 2015 with CODE 531 (COMAND APS) 

Shown on COMAND controller unit (A40/3) except CODE 494 (USA version) and except CODE 498 (Japan version)

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove glove compartment   AR68.10-P-1400EL
2 Remove COMAND controller unit (A40/3) until the electrical connectors on the back of the device are accessible   AR82.60-P-7502EW 
3 Place COMAND controller unit (A40/3) to one side with electrical lines still connected NOTES Place COMAND controller unit (A40/3) on a clean dry cloth.
Otherwise, components in the instrument panel or center console can be damaged.
 
4 Disconnect connector (1) from COMAND controller unit (A40/3) IMPORTANT Connector (1) is colored in beige.  
5 Cut through electrical line (2) of WLAN antenna (A2/83) at both ends and as near to the instrument panel wiring harness as possible IMPORTANT The factory installed electrical line (2) is firmly integrated in the instrument panel wiring harness. This is why the defective WLAN antenna (A2/83) must be cut off for replacement. The factory installed electrical line (2) remains in the vehicle.  
6 Remove cut off section of the factory installed electrical line (2)    
7 Unclip and remove WLAN antenna (A2/83) from instrument panel crossmember (3)    
INSTALLING Install     
8 Clip in new WLAN antenna (A2/83) at instrument panel crossmember (3)    
9 Route electrical line (2) of the new WLAN antenna (A2/83) along the instrument panel wiring harness to the device installation opening of the COMAND controller unit (A40/3) and fix in place with cable ties    
10 Connect connector (1) of electrical line (2) to the jack of the same color at the COMAND controller unit (A40/3)    
11 Install COMAND controller unit (A40/3)   AR82.60-P-7502EW 
12 Install glove compartment   AR68.10-P-1400EL
