Location
The automatic air conditioning control and operating unit is located in the center console.
Task
The automatic air conditioning control and operating unit performs the following tasks:
- Reading in of sensors and signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
Reading in of sensors and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Climate control LIN (LIN B8)
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
Direct line
The signals from the following sensors are read via direct lines:
- Interior temperature sensor (B10/4)
- Evaporator temperature sensor (B10/6)
- Left side air vent air outlet temperature sensor (B10/31)
- Right side air vent air outlet temperature sensor (B10/32)
- Left front footwell vent air outlet temperature sensor (B10/35)
- Right front footwell vent air outlet temperature sensor (B10/36)
- Sun sensor (B32/3)
- Interior temperature sensor with integrated fan (N70/3b1) (without code (414) Power glass tilting/sliding roof)
Climate control LIN
The signals of the following sensors are read in via climate control LIN:
- Emissions sensor (B31)
- Vehicle interior humidity/temperature sensor (B82)
- Rear automatic air conditioning operating unit (N22/4)
Interior CAN
The following signals, among others, are read in via interior CAN:
- Vehicle speed (from instrument cluster (A1))
- Coolant temperature (from CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine) or from ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine)
- Refrigerant pressure (from front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1))
- Outside temperature (from front SAM control unit)
- Engine speed (from CDI control unit (with diesel engine) or ME-SFI [ME] control unit (with gasoline engine))
- Circuit 15 status (from electronic ignition lock control unit (N73))
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
Actuation of components
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Climate control LIN
- Interior CAN
Direct line
The blower regulator (A32n1) is actuated via a direct line.
Climate control LIN
The following components are actuated via climate control LIN:
- Rear blower motor (M2/1)
- Fresh air/recirculated air flap actuator motor (M2/5)
- Left blend air flap actuator motor (M2/6)
- Right blend air flap actuator motor (M2/7)
- Left defroster flap actuator motor (M2/8)
- Right defroster flap actuator motor (M2/9)
- Left footwell flap actuator motor (M2/10)
- Right footwell flap actuator motor (M2/11)
- Left center air vent flap actuator motor (M2/12)
- Right center air vent flap actuator motor (M2/13)
- Diffuser flap actuator motor (M2/21)
- Ram air flap actuator motor (M2/34)
- Rear blend air flap actuator motor (M2/35)
- PTC heater booster (R22/3) (with diesel engine)
Interior CAN
Actuation of the following components is also requested by the automatic air conditioning control and operating unit over the interior CAN, for example.
- Internal combustion engine fan motor and air conditioning with integrated control (M4/7)
- Coolant circulation pump (M13/5)
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
