For the exhaust gas concept low emission EURO3/4 a malfunction indicator lamp with an engine symbol is installed in the instrument cluster.

If the malfunction indicator light does not go out after the engine has started, this indicates a fault affecting the emission control system.

Read fault memory at the data link connector and rectify fault.

Additional functions/components for the low emission exhaust gas concept EURO3/4 (designated partially as EOBD: EOBD = O n B oard D iagnosis for E urope) are:

Two-sensor control

Engine 112, 113 as of 06/2000

All vehicles (LHS and RHS), e.g. ) with engines 112, 113 are fitted as standard with EURO3 (without code).

EURO4 is fitted as standard in some cases (without code) for Germany and other implementing EU countries, or is assigned by means of code 926.

Monitoring catalytic converter efficiency
O₂ sensors downstream of firewall catalytic converters
Catalytic converter system with larger volumes and an optimized coating
Engine diagnosis indicator lamp in the instrument cluster.
