We reject all vehicle modifications, which result in a change to the model. A vehicle in its standard version is a constructive entity, and the installation of any parts that are not specifically for the model will only change it to its detriment. Changes of important components impair the homogeneity of the overall vehicle. This is why we have not examined what has to be observed for modifications of this nature. These modifications can also result in changes to the vehicle that, in turn, will require renewed certification with regard to the fulfillment of legal regulations.

The major reasons behind our rejection are as follows: 

1. The retrofit, e.g. of a more powerful engine, means that major assemblies such as transmission, brakes, axles etc. may be subjected to excessive loads.
2. Changes to the series condition can exert an influence on the new vehicle warranty. Our warranty coverage is not only for damage that is initially directly related to a change to the original Mercedes-Benz delivery condition.
3. A smooth parts supply process can no longer be guaranteed for disparate major assembly replacements.
4. The replacement procedure is dealt with in line with the "same for the same" principle. For example, the returned damaged engine will be replaced by a reconditioned assembly with the same model designation. Only then can the returned damaged engine be billed.
