Notes on destination-oriented navigation with TMC (fee-free traffic messages from radio stations).

The installation of dynamic destination-oriented navigation system described below applies only for navigation with COMAND. As of software release Q14 this is immediately possible.

Devices with software release Q13 to Q10 can be updated using a special Update-CD to software release Q14.

In new vehicles (as of 08.99) devices with Q-status Q1 and Q2 are installed, these devices are next generation COMAND devices. In these devices, the dynamic destination-oriented navigation system can always be retrofitted. An update is not necessary.

Check the software release:

Remove COMAND operating, display and controller unit. Search for a round adhesive label bearing the software release on the right side of the device.

The customer is to be notified that the retrofitted dynamic destination-oriented navigation system only operates with the toll-free traffic message channel (TMC). The TCS information source (subject to a fee) is not available.
