Notes on destination-oriented navigation with TMC (fee-free traffic messages from radio stations).

The installation of dynamic destination-oriented navigation system described below applies only for the

APS with 3rd device generation

As of software release Q5 this is immediately possible.

Devices with software release Q4 and earlier can be updated using a special download CD to the Q5 release.

Check the software release:

Pull the APS control panel (A2/29) out of the radio recess. Search for a round adhesive label bearing the software release on right side of he the device.

If necessary please request the Download-CD from your local contact person in the Daimler Sales Organization Technical Workshop Support. If necessary quote vehicle ident. number, delivery address, contact person and reason for request.

The dynamic destination-oriented navigation system function on newer vehicles is described in the operator's manual for the autopilot system. On older vehicles the operator's manual has to be replaced with the latest one.

The customer is to be notified that the retrofitted dynamic destination-oriented navigation system only operates with the toll-free traffic message channel (TMC). The TCS information source (subject to a fee) is not available.
