Digital TV tuner, component description - GF82.60-P-3118FQJ
MODEL 218 with CODE (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) with CODE (498) Japan version up to model year 2013/AEJ 12
Shown on model 218.3
Location
The digital TV tuner is located in the trunk at the right rear, in front of the wheel well cutout behind the sidewall lining on a bracket.
Task
The digital TV tuner has the following tasks:
- Receive signals
- Demodulating and decoding signals
- Transmit signals
Receive signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
- Direct line
Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
The digital TV tuner receives control signals from the COMAND controller unit over the MOST (A40/3).
Direct line
The digital TV tuner reads in the following signals:
- Power supply through circuit 31 and circuit 30g
- Wake-up signal from COMAND controller unit
- TV radio signals from:
- TV 1 antenna amplifier (A94/1) over a coaxial cable
- TV 2 antenna amplifier (A94/2) over a coaxial cable
- TV 3 antenna amplifier (A94/3) over a coaxial cable
Demodulating and decoding signals
The TV signals that are received via the antenna amplifier are evaluated internally and separated into video and audio signals.
Transmit signals
The initial parameters are transmitted over the following connections:
- MOST
- Direct line
MOST
The digital TV tuner sends audio signals to the COMAND controller unit or to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) (with code (810) Sound system or code (811) Advanced sound system).
Direct line
The TV digital tuner sends video signals over Y/C lines to the COMAND controller unit.
Apart from this, the following components are supplied with a phantom voltage:
- TV 1 antenna amplifier
- TV 2 antenna amplifier
- TV 3 antenna amplifier
Design
The TV digital tuner is delivered with a "B-CAS card". The card reader in the digital TV tuner is sealed with a cover to prevent unintended removal of the "B-CAS card".
