Component description for sound system amplifier control unit - GF82.62-P-5010FQ
MODEL 218 with CODE 810 (Sound system) without CODE 811 (Advanced sound system)
Illustrated on model 218.3
Location
The sound system amplifier control unit is located in the trunk behind the left sidewall cover in front of the wheel arch on a bracket.
Task
The sound system amplifier control unit has the following tasks:
- Receive signals
- Decoding signals
- Supporting and amplifying signals
- Transmitting signals
Receive signals
The sound system amplifier control unit receives the signals over the following connections:
- Direct lines
- Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
Direct lines
The sound system amplifier control unit receives the following signals over a direct line:
- Audio mute (with CODE 348 (Emergency call/assist system), with CODE 350 (Ecall Europe emergency call system Gen. 2) or with CODE 359 (TELEAID emergency call system))
- Wake-up signal for MOST
Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
The sound system amplifier control unit is a MOST subscriber and receives e.g. audio signals from the following components:
- Audio unit
- TV tuner (analog/digital) (A90/1) (with CODE 863 (Digital/analog TV tuner))
- Digital TV tuner (A90/3) (with CODE 865 (TV tuner), up to 31.8.14)
- Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit (N87/3) (with CODE 537 (Digital radio), up to 31.8.14)
- Satellite digital audio radio (SDAR) control unit (N87/5) (with CODE 536 (SIRIUS satellite radio), up to 31.8.14)
- Tuner unit (A90/4) (with CODE 536 (SIRIUS satellite radio), CODE 537 (Digital radio) or CODE 865 (TV tuner), as of 1.9.14)
- Media interface control unit (N125/1) (with CODE 518 (Media Interface), up to 31.8.14)
Decoding signals
The sound system amplifier control unit decodes DTCP copy-protected audio signals on the basis of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology.
DSP means that for the audio range, audio tracks are processed using mathematical algorithms with the objective of improving the acoustic sound characteristics.
Supporting and amplifying signals
The sound system amplifier control unit supports and amplifies the following signals:
- Surround Sound (Logic7®)
- Two stereo entertainment channels and three announcement channels (e.g. for voice output of navigation instructions, etc.)
- Decoded audio signals
Transmitting signals
The sound system amplifier control unit uses direct lines to send audio signals to the speaker system and the rear bass speaker amplifier (N40/9).
Function
The sound system amplifier control unit is activated via the audio equipment. The sound system amplifier control unit receives a speed signal from the audio equipment via MOST for the speed-dependent volume control (SDV).
