DANGER Risk of injury  . Moving parts can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating range of the mechanism when moving components. AS00.00-Z-0009-01A
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
  Preparatory activity     
1 Lift vehicle on vehicle lift    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR00.60-P-1002LWG
INSPECT Check     
2 Check underfloor paneling when driving over obstacles or for any bottoming damage If the underfloor paneling exhibits any damage:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
REMOVING Remove     
3 Remove center engine compartment paneling    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR61.20-P-1105LW
INSPECT Check     
4 Check wheel bearing by firmly pulling, pushing and turning the wheels If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
5 Check front axle carrier (12) for cracks, deformation and corrosion If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
6 Check shock absorber elastomer bearing (11) for cracks, deformation and wear, then check for play by firmly pulling and pushing If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
7 Check spring control arm (1) for cracks, deformation and corrosion If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
8 Check spring control arm elastomer bearing (1a) for cracks, deformation and wear, and for play by firmly pulling and pushing If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
9 Check strut rods (2) for cracks, deformation and corrosion If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
10 Check elastomer bearing for strut rod (2a) for cracks, deformation and wear and for play by firmly pulling and pushing If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
11 Check stabilizer bar (8) for cracks, deformation and corrosion If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
12 Check stabilizer bushings (8a) for cracks, deformation and wear then check stabilizer bar for play by firmly pulling and pushing If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
13 Check spring control arm joint boots (4) for condition, leaktightness and correct seating If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
14 Check spring control arm joints (6) for deformation and wear, as well as for play by firmly pushing and pulling If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
15 Check strut rod joint boots (3) for condition, leaktightness and correct seating If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
16 Check strut rod joints (5) for deformation and wear, as well as for play by firmly pushing and pulling If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
17 Check upper shift rail fastenings (9) for play by firmly pushing and pulling Model 205, 253
except code M005 (4MATIC)
If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
18 Check lower shift rail fastenings (10) for play by firmly pushing and pulling Model 205, 253
except code M005 (4MATIC)
If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
19 Check shift rails (18) for deformation and corrosion If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
20 Check upper shift rail joints (17a) for play by firmly pulling and pushing Model 205, 253
with code M005 (4MATIC)
If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
21 Check upper shift rail joint boots (17) for proper condition, leaktightness and correct seating Model 205, 253
with code M005 (4MATIC)
If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
22 Check lower shift rail joints (19a) for play by firmly pulling and pushing Model 205, 253
with code M005 (4MATIC)
If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
23 Check lower shift rail joint boots (19) for proper condition, leaktightness and correct seating Model 205, 253
with code M005 (4MATIC)
If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
24 Check outer drive shaft boots (13) for condition, leaktightness and correct seating. Model 205, 253
with code M005 (4MATIC)
If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
25 Check inner drive shaft boots (14) for condition, leaktightness and correct seating. Model 205, 253
with code M005 (4MATIC)
If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
26 Check clamps (15) for cracks, deformation, corrosion and correct seating Model 205, 253
with code M005 (4MATIC)
If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
27 Check drive shafts (16) for cracks, deformation, corrosion and for play by firmly pushing and pulling Model 205, 253
with code M005 (4MATIC)
If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
28 Check level sensor linkage (20) for correct seating, cracks, deformation, corrosion and play If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
