Drain/pour in coolant - AR20.00-P-1142LW

MODEL 205 with ENGINE 177, 274.9, 276, 626, 651

DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

  Drain off     
1 Remove charge air cooler MODEL 205 with ENGINE 276  
AR09.41-P-6819MMV
2 Remove catalytic converter DPF unit MODEL 205 with ENGINE 651  
AR49.10-P-5501LWB
3 Remove catalytic converter MODEL 205 with ENGINE 651  
AR49.10-P-5500OLE
4 Remove screw/bolts (6) and take off heat shield (7) MODEL 205 with ENGINE 651  
5 Remove screw/bolts (8) and take off heat shield (9) MODEL 205 with ENGINE 651  
6 Slowly open cap (1) on coolant expansion reservoir (2) and take off    
7 Remove front section of lower engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105LW
8 Slide the drain hose (5) onto the drain fitting on radiator    
9 Slacken drain screw on radiator (4) and drain coolant. NOTES
Remove radiator drain screw (4) until the coolant flows out.
Permanent damage to the radiator drain screw (4) will occur otherwise.
IMPORTANT Catch coolant in a suitable container.
IMPORTANT Observe regulations to dispose of coolant.
 
10 Tighten radiator drain screw (4) and pull out drain hose (5)    
11.1 Drain coolant from coolant pump MODEL 205 with ENGINE 276

11.2 Drain coolant at crankcase MODEL 205 with ENGINE 651

  Pour in     
12 Install charge air cooler MODEL 205 with ENGINE 276  
AR09.41-P-6819MMV
13 Install heat shield (9) MODEL 205 with ENGINE 651  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Shield to starter *BA15.30-P-1004-01P 
14 Install heat shield (7) MODEL 205 with ENGINE 651  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, heat shield to engine support *BA22.10-P-1003-02A 
15 Install catalytic converter DPF unit MODEL 205 with ENGINE 651

16 Install catalytic converter MODEL 205 with ENGINE 651  
AR49.10-P-5500OLE
19 Pour in coolant and ventilate engine cooling system ENGINE 177, 276 in MODEL 205 AR20.00-P-1142-04A

IMPORTANT Use clean coolant again.

20 Check engine cooling system for leaktightness   AR20.00-P-1010LW 
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
21 Perform an engine test run, check engine cooling system for proper operation    
22 Fit front section of lower engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105LW
