  1. Position transmission vertically.
  2. SPECIAL TOOL Attach assembly device (2) to torque converter.

IMPORTANT To do so, set the height of the SPECIAL TOOL assembly device (2) on the knob (1) so that it can be slided over the guide (A) of the torque converter.

  3. SPECIAL TOOL Turn assembly device (2) clockwise until guide (A) lies against torque converter.
  4. Tighten knob (1) until torque converter and SPECIAL TOOL assembly device (2) engage (arrow).
  5. Remove torque converter without tilting.
    1. 6.1 If there are metal shavings in oil pan of transmission. Drain transmission oil from the torque converter through a clean cloth.

If there are metal shavings in cloth

      ↓

      Replace torque converter.

    2. 6.2 In event of transmission oil that is burnt or contaminated with wear debris.

Flush out torque converter, oil lines and oil cooler.

    Remove torque converter

  6. Insert torque converter carefully and without tilting.

    NOTES Do not use force.

Otherwise the axial end stop on the torque converter will be damaged.

NOTES Do not touch or damage the radial shaft sealing ring (4).

Otherwise leaks and damage can occur at the transmission.

NOTES Ensure torque converter is correctly seated.

Otherwise the transmission and oil pump will be damaged.

  7. SPECIAL TOOL Place parallel gauges (01) on support fixture of transmission.
  8. Adjust digital vernier caliper from SPECIAL TOOL parallel gauge (01) to support fixture of transmission (5) to "0".
  9. Add determined dimension (D1) and specified wall thickness of support fixture of transmission (D2 = 16 mm) together Transmission 725.0 with engine 177

    Transmission 725.0 with engine 256

    Transmission 725.0 with engine 264

    Transmission 725.0 with engine 274

    Transmission 725.0 with engine 276

    Transmission 725.0 with engine 278

    Transmission 725.0 with engine 651

    Transmission 725.0 with engine 654

    Transmission 725.0 with engine 656.

IMPORTANT On the torque converter, the angled threaded connection must be measured on the processing surface.

IMPORTANT For a correctly inserted torque converter, the sum of D1 and D2 (16 mm) corresponds to the installation position of the torque converter; in so doing, do not take into account the sign (+) from value D1.

  10. SPECIAL TOOL Detach assembly device (2) from torque converter.
