Install Rear Fender - Ar63.50-P-1400-04LW

Model 205.0/1 

MODIFICATION NOTES

13.01.2016 Polygrip Ø 6.4X14 countersunk-head rivet replaced by Ø 6.4x14.0 countersunk-head rivet. Operation step 16  

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed on the right side in the same way in the event of damage.

  1. Install rear fender (1), rear bumper, trunk lid, taillamp, door seal and lock striker and fit.
  2. Check and adjust gap dimensions.
  3. Fix rear fender (1) in place.
  4. Remove rear bumper, trunk lid, taillamp, door seal and lock striker.
  5. Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes in rear fender (1) (areas A and B).

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes through existing holes in body (area B).

  6. Countersink rivet holes on body (area B).
  7. Remove rear fender (1).
  8. Deburr rivet holes on rear fender (1) and body on both sides.
  9. Install rubber window spacers from glazing repair kit as spacers on outer rear wheel well at uniform intervals (area G).
  10. Apply sealant to foam parts and outer rear wheel well (areas E, F and G).
  11. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas (areas C and D).

    IMPORTANT Apply 2-component adhesive to inside (area D).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Observe manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of adhesive.

  12. Install rear fender (1), fit and fix in place.
  13. Rivet rear fender (1) with Ø 6.4x12 rivets (area H).
  14. Rear fender (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE ROW SPOT WELD (areas I).
  15. Rear fender (1) SHIELDED GAS PLUG WELD (area J).

  16. Rivet rear fender (1) with Ø 6.4x14.0 blind countersunk-head rivets (area K).
  17. Rear fender (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE ROW SPOT WELD (areas L).
  18. Rear fender (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (areas M and N).

    IMPORTANT Perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow to cool down in between. This reduces heat distortion.

  19. Grind inert gas welds down flat (areas M and N).
  20. Solder surfaces on rear fender (1) with body solder and smooth (areas M and N).
  21. Remove solder residues and grinding dust.
