Install Rear End - Ar64.20-P-1020-06LW

- Install rear end assembly (1) and fit.
- Install trunk lid seal.
- Install striker eye.
- Check and adjust gap dimensions.
- Fix rear end assembly (1) in place.
- Remove trunk lid seal.
- Remove locking eye.
- Drill rivet holes on rear end assembly (1) with Ø 6.7 mm bit (areas A and B).
Drill rivet holes through present holes in body.
- Remove rear end (1).
- Deburr rivet holes on rear end assembly (1) and body on both sides.
- Remove drilling chips.
- Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas B).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Shown on removed spare wheel well
- Apply window glue to mating surfaces on spare wheel well to rear end assembly.
With spare wheel well installed.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Observe manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of adhesive.
- Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas.
Apply 2-component adhesive to inside (areas C).
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.
- Install rear end assembly (1) and fix in place.
- Rivet rear end assembly (1) with Ø 6.4x12 rivets (areas D).
- Rear end assembly (1)
(areas E and F).
Rivet areas F with Ø 6.5x12.5 rivets if spare wheel well is installed.
- Rivet rear end assembly (1) with Ø 6.4x12 rivets (areas G).
- Rear end assembly (1)
(areas I).
- Rear end assembly (1)
(areas H).
- Drill rear end assembly (1) with Ø 7 mm bit to depth of one sheet metal thickness (areas I).
- Grind inert gas welds down flat (areas I).
