Remove/Install Front Axle Shafts - AR33.30-P-0620LWY

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.		 AS00.00-Z-0017-01A
  Notes on threaded connections fastened using a tightening angle-based tightening process   AH00.00-P-0020-01A
  Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
  Notes on repair work on suspension components   AH00.00-P-0100-01A
REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove respective steering knuckle   AR33.25-P-0400LW 
2 Pull front axle shafts (1) using impact extractor (02) and pull-off device (03) out of front axle differential and intermediate shaft (4) NOTES If the left front axle shaft (1) is seized the retaining ring (2) on the intermediate shaft (4) must be removed and then the left front axle shaft (1) can be pulled out with the intermediate shaft (4).
Otherwise the oil pan may be damaged.		  
    NOTES Absolute cleanliness is essential when working on the front axle transmission.
Otherwise operation of the front axle transmission will be impaired.

3.1 Remove retaining ring from front axle shaft (1) When removing right front axle shaft (1)  
3.2 Remove retaining ring (1s) from intermediate shaft (4) When removing the left front axle shaft (1)  
4 Remove radial shaft sealing ring When removing right front axle shaft (1) AR33.30-P-0540LWY 
INSTALLING Install     
5 Install new radial shaft sealing ring When installing right front axle shaft (1) AR33.30-P-0540LWY 
6.1 Install new retaining ring (1s) of intermediate shaft (4) When installing the left front axle shaft (1)
IMPORTANT Apply light coating of microgrease to retaining ring (1s).

6.2 Install new retaining ring of front axle shaft (1) When installing right front axle shaft (1)
IMPORTANT Apply light coating of microgrease to retaining ring.

7 Check dust boots of front axle shaft (1) If damage is present
↓
Replace dust boots.		 AR33.30-P-0690CW 
8 Push front axle shafts (1) into front axle differential and intermediate shaft (4) IMPORTANT Before installation of the left front axle shaft (1) apply light coating of grease to toothing on intermediate shaft (4).
IMPORTANT Pull off the SPECIAL TOOL assembly tool from the radial shaft sealing ring before fully pressing in the right front axle shaft (1).

9 Install steering knuckle   AR33.25-P-0400LW 
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear buttoned-up and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
10 Conduct engine test run and check front axle differential for leak tightness and proper operation
