Remove/Install Condenser - AR83.30-P-6540LW

Model 205 (except 205.013/213) with engine 274, 276, 626, 651, 654 

Model 253 with engine 274, 276, 642, 651

  Risk of fire  due to ignition of R1234yf refrigerant on hot components. Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by contact with escaped R1234yf refrigerant and when working on pressurized parts. Risk of explosion  due to formation of ignitable refrigerant/air mixtures Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated rooms.
Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been evacuated.

WARNING Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors from an air conditioning system containing R134a. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid R134a refrigerant and when working on pressurized parts Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated rooms.
Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been evacuated.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Discharge air conditioning system.   AR83.30-P-1760LW 
2 Remove front bumper.   AR88.20-P-2000LW
3 Remove air duct (13).    
4 Remove holders (14).    
5 Remove bolts (16, 17) and remove diagonal strut (15).    
6.1 Unscrew screws (19, 20) and remove diagonal struts (18). Model 205.4 with engine 274, 276, 651, 654  
6.2 Release and disconnect electrical connection (3). Model 205 with engine 626 with transmission 722.9  
7 Remove lower air duct segment (2).    
8 Remove automatic transmission oil cooler. Model 205 with engine 626 with transmission 722.9 AR27.55-P-1000LWB
9 Remove frame of automatic transmission oil cooler. Model 205 with engine 626 with transmission 722.9  
10 Remove high-voltage battery cooler. Model 205.047/147/247, 253.354/954 with engine 274 AR20.20-P-3885LWH
11 Release left air duct segment (9) using extraction hook (12) and fold to one side. NOTES Carefully fold left air duct segment (9) to one side.
Otherwise, the condenser (1) may be damaged.
IMPORTANT When folding away left air duct segment (9) carefully push condenser (1) to rear.
 
    SPECIAL TOOL Extraction hook Fig 2
12 Release right air duct segment (9) using extraction hook (12) and fold to one side. Model 253 with engine 274, 276, 642, 651
NOTES Carefully fold right air duct segment (9) to one side.
Otherwise, the condenser (1) may be damaged.
IMPORTANT When folding away right air duct segment (9), carefully push condenser (1) to rear.
 
    SPECIAL TOOL Extraction hook Fig 2
13 Release and disconnect electrical connector (6).    
14 Remove nut (4), remove refrigerant line (5) and seal openings using suitable stop plugs. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 3
15 Remove nut (7), remove refrigerant line (8) and seal openings using suitable stop plugs. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 3
16 Release locks (10, 11) in direction of arrow and route condenser (1) downwards. NOTES Carefully guide out condenser (1).
Otherwise condenser (1) or adjacent components may be damaged.
 
    IMPORTANT Model 205 (except 205.013/213) with engine 274, 276, 626, 651, 654
Swivel condenser (1) downwards slightly to extend it on the left-hand side.
 
INSTALLING Install     
17 Check receiver drier for re-usability and replace if necessary. If the receiver drier cannot be reused.

Replace drier cartridge.
AR83.30-P-6521LW 
18 Insert condenser (1) from below and latch into locks (10, 11). NOTES Carefully insert condenser (1).
Otherwise condenser (1) or adjacent components may be damaged.
 
19 Remove stop plugs and attach refrigerant line (8) and nut (7).    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Compressor oils (specification 362.1)   BB00.40-P-0362-01A
    IMPORTANT Replace seal.
Moisten sealing ring with compressor oil.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, line to condenser *BA83.30-P-1002-01Q

20 Remove stop plugs and attach refrigerant line (5) and nut (4).    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Compressor oils (specification 362.1)   BB00.40-P-0362-01A
    IMPORTANT Replace seal.
Moisten sealing ring with compressor oil.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, line to condenser *BA83.30-P-1002-01Q

21 Connect and lock electrical connector (6).    
22 Fasten left air duct segment (9) in place. NOTES Carefully fasten left air duct segment (9) in place.
Otherwise, the condenser (1) may be damaged.
IMPORTANT When fastening the left air duct segment (9) carefully push condenser (1) to rear.
 
23 Fasten right air duct segment (9) in place. Model 253 with engine 274, 276, 642, 651
NOTES Carefully fasten right air duct segment (9) in place.
Otherwise, the condenser (1) may be damaged.
IMPORTANT When fastening the right air duct segment (9), carefully push condenser (1) to rear.
 
24 Install high-voltage battery cooler. Model 205.047/147/247, 253.354/954 with engine 274 AR20.20-P-3885LWH
25 Install frame of automatic transmission oil cooler. Model 205 with engine 626 with transmission 722.9  
26 Install automatic transmission oil cooler. Model 205 with engine 626 with transmission 722.9 AR27.55-P-1000LWB
27 Install lower air duct segment (2).    
28.1 Connect and lock electrical connector (3). Model 205 with engine 626 with transmission 722.9  
28.2 Insert diagonal struts (18) and tighten screws (19, 20). Model 205.4 with engine 274, 276, 651, 654  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, strut to soundproofing *BA62.30-P-1004-01H 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, strut to cross member *BA62.30-P-1003-01H 
29 Insert diagonal strut (15) and tighten bolt (16). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, strut to cross member *BA62.30-P-1003-01H 
30 Tighten bolt (17). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, strut to soundproofing *BA62.30-P-1004-01H 
31 Install holders (14).    
32 Install air deflector (13).    
33 Install front bumper.   AR88.20-P-2000LW
34 Fill air conditioning system and check for leak tightness.   AR83.30-P-1760LW
