Partially Remove Rear Longitudinal Member - Ar64.20-P-1260-01LW

  Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. See AS00.00-Z-0010-01A .
  Risk of explosion  from aluminum grinding dust, risk of injury to respiratory system from inhaling dust Wear dust filter mask, safety glasses and protective gloves.
Use a suitable, grounded dust extraction system.
See AS60.00-Z-0007-01N .
WARNING Risk of injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. See AS00.00-Z-0002-01A .
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REPAIR MATERIALS

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

IMPORTANT The following repair materials must be used:

  1. Expose spot welds on rear-end floor (1) and cut out (areas A and B).

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot welds through two sheet metal thicknesses (area B).

  2. Expose self-piercing riveting on rear-end floor (1) with Ø 6 mm bit (areas C).
  3. Expose impact spikes on rear-end floor (1) and cut out (area J).

  4. Expose spot welds on rear-end floor (1) and rear longitudinal member (2) and cut out (areas D).
  5. Expose self-piercing riveting on rear longitudinal member (2) and drill with Ø 6 mm (area E).
  6. Expose impact spikes on rear longitudinal member (2) and cut out (area H).

  7. Heat rear-end floor (1) and rear longitudinal member (2) in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  8. Remove rear-end floor (1) with rear longitudinal member (2).

  9. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on inside (area F).

    Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  10. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  11. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas G and F).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
