- Install rear center section (1) and fit.
- Install trunk lid seal.
- Install striker eye.
- Check and adjust gap dimensions.
- Fix rear center section (1) in place.
- Remove trunk lid seal.
- Remove striker eye.
- Drill rivet holes on rear center section (1) with Ø 6.7 mm bit (areas A, B and C).
Drill rivet holes through present holes in body (area A and B).
- Countersink rivet holes from outside (areas B and C).
- Drill rivet holes on rear center section (1) with Ø 6.7 mm bit (area J).
- Remove rear center section (1).
- Deburr rivet holes on rear center section (1) and body on both sides.
- Remove drilling chips.
- Coat with zinc dust paint insides of those riveted joints that will not be bonded.
- Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas (areas M and N).
Apply 2-component adhesive to body from inside (area N).
The 2-component adhesive is partially removed in the areas (N) when installing the rear center section. This must be compensated by applying more adhesive. Also apply 2-component adhesive to new part.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.
- Install rear center section (1) and fix in place.
- Rivet rear center section (1) with Ø 6.5x14.5 blind rivets (areas D).
Clamping range 4.8 mm.
- Rivet rear center section (1) with Ø 6.4x15.5 countersunk head rivets (areas E).
Clamping range 3.4 mm.
- Rivet rear center section (1) with Ø 6.4x14.0 countersunk head rivets (areas F).
Clamping range 2.7 mm.
- Rivet rear center section (1) with Ø 6.4x12 blind rivets (area K).
Clamping range 2.8 mm.
- Rear center section (1)
(areas G).
The following steps 22 to 23 are shown on the right side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the left side of the vehicle.
- Rivet rear center section (1) with Ø 6.4x12 blind rivets (area H).
Clamping range 1.6 mm.
