- Disconnect adhesive bead between spare wheel well and rear end assembly (1).
With spare wheel well installed.
The rear end assembly (1) is bonded to the spare wheel well.
- Expose spot welds on rear end assembly (1) and cut out (areas A and B).
- Expose spot welds on rear end assembly (1) and drill with Ø 6.5 mm bit (areas C).
- Expose spot welds on rear end assembly (1) and cut out (areas D and E).
Cut out spot weld through two panel thicknesses (areas E).
- Expose spot welds on rear end assembly (1) and drill with Ø 6.5 mm bit (areas F).
- Heat rear end assembly (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded.
- Remove rear end (1).

- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched inner C-pillar sidewall.
Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on insides (areas H).
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas G and F).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
